Wide dragnet against trade of spyware for … – the avenir.net

                     

Several searches and arrests took place Tuesday in several European countries, including Belgium and the United States as part of an extensive dossier on spyware smartphone named Droidjack, Europol announced Wednesday. International action was led by the public prosecutor in Frankfurt, Germany, with the support of Europol and police services of the different countries concerned.


                 
                     

Droidjack is spyware that allows cybercriminals to take control of a smartphone running the Android system without the owner noticing. Thus, for example, hackers could monitor traffic phone data, listen to conversations or use the camera without the knowledge of the owner.

The software could also be used to send sms and change GPS location of the device. In addition, Droidjack allowed actions “phishing”. Cybercriminals could also access bank data pirated users.
