After two years of research, certification and compliance test, doctors will be able to have the necessary software to manage shared care records (DSP). “At the end of October 2015, 25 000 patients with a medical consultant already have their own DSP”, says Hervé Barge, CEO of eHealth Agency. “We hope to reach the 50 000 by the end of 2016.”
To effectively handle digital patient records, 140 general practitioners are now equipped GECAMed software. A tool developed in close collaboration with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). “The digitization of medical data may scare users” says Eric Dubois, Director of the Department for Innovative IT Services LIST. “We therefore based throughout Luxembourg expertise in the field to build confidence in these new services.”

“Reduce errors”
Three researchers LIST have worked on the latest version of the presented software on Friday morning. “This is a true case of applied research in partnership,” continues Eric Dubois. “With GECAMed, we tried to meet a need clearly identified by doctors. The sharing of health data is a real national issue, or even European. “For example, nearly 100,000 people travel between Luxembourg and Portugal and may at any time need to communicate their care record shared.
For beyond the data security aspect, it is important to deliver the right information in a very short time sometimes. “Part of the work of doctors is to pass on good health checkups to all other medical professions,” says Hervé Barge. “The GECAMed software will enable them to facilitate the speed and quality of the exchanges. In countries such as France and Germany between 15 000 and 20 000 deaths could have been avoided if the correct information had arrived on time at their destination. The GECAMed software will improve exchanges about the patient and reduce errors. “
