Popcorn Time farmhouse Stremio happens … it can-streaming software … – Télérama.fr

A few days ago, Popcorn Time, the new bane of the film industry, closed. At the same time, appears in the radar of movie fans and a series of other illegal streaming software, Stremio. For how long?

Since the closure last October 23 of PopcornTime.io, the main “fork” (version) Popcorn Time, streaming software (illegal ) the latest trend in the world, the Web was buzzing. Rumors about a supposed discord between authors on the future direction of the site (a paid VPN, giving outlet to justice) to explain his disappearance, the hope of a new version in preparation (Butter launched by dissident Popcorn Time), plus legal but probably less able to generate as much enthusiasm. And then two days ago, the news came: it’s the MPAA, the association bringing together the main studios of Hollywood cinema, by a complaint filed on October 16 against the site, caused her fall under the action of justice. End of story ? Almost.

Stremio, an existing streaming site since 2013 (originally under the name of Cinematic) became in a few days the new darling of “bingewatchers” gluttons of movies or series. Like its cousin deceased Stremio does not host any content and only works with the BitTorrent protocol, using the main suppliers in this field to make viewable movies and series on its platform, streaming. The site also aggregates the content of YouTube channels and television, and would use the latter feature streams the Filmon aggregator. Question ergonomics, the site offers almost the same ease of use as Popcorn Time, the elegant design and less. Other missing, more cruel. Stremio code is not open source, where that of Popcorn Time was open to all encoders in the world, and therefore infinitely improvable

Finally a Rest one question: Stremio he survive longer under the spotlight as Popcorn Time? As explained by the blogger Korben, it seems that the site is centrally managed, meaning that the team behind Stremio directly manages its servers. If attacks of the MPAA, a closure would be very easy to implement.
