The computer giant Microsoft has developed a software able to guess the age and emotions of people.
Microsoft has just taken a further step in the field of facial recognition . Microsoft Research engineers, Research and Development branch of Microsoft, have indeed managed to develop a tool to recognize emotions and to guess the age of the persons appearing on simple photographs. Called “Project Oxford,” the technology is usable by everyone by going on a dedicated website.
To assess the age and characterize the emotions, the software uses a database composed images loaded on the Azure platform from Microsoft. Users are encouraged to feed by storing images in the cloud (“data cloud”) of the platform, which can handle a large amount of information and integrate them into the system.
The tool currently recognizes eight key emotional states: anger, contempt, fear, disgust, happiness, neutral face, sadness and surprise
