The German brand indicates that all of its software dedicated to pollution results will be reviewed. A large patch will be deployed by Volkswagen in 2016.
Volkswagen will conduct a general review of the software to quantify the release of some of its models. Audi and Porsche are also involved in this review, which should be proposed as a simple update. These manufacturers will contact owners of the affected models to agree with them on a date.
During the interview at a garage, which should last between 30 minutes and an hour, internal software in the vehicle will be adjusted to incorporate this new update. From 2016, these reminders will be scheduled.
In September, Volkswagen has acknowledged installed on several of its diesel car models, a system to thwart certain emission tests. An algorithm contained in embedded software was able to recognize these events and act accordingly when notified bodies were making pollution testing.
