pollution control software: Volkswagen guilty of … – Clubic

Last September, the German automaker was convicted of cheating among its consumers. The authorities accused him of having developed an algorithm included in embedded software can detect certain anti-pollution tests. Thanks to them, Volkswagen was able to believe, wrongly, that several of its models were few pollutants.

In France, Fraud Control (DGCCRF) makes its balance sheet. It considers that the brand has deceived its customers intentionally. “ There was clearly in the software that controls the vehicle pieces that could skew the results when air emission controls ,” says Nathalie Homobono, executive director of the organization.

If Volkswagen is clearly guilty, the question remains for other manufacturers (13 in total were surveyed). For Renault, the investigations are continuing and more elements embedded software are still being analyzed. However, nothing yet to suggest that the French brand has deliberately misled its customers.
