MacKeeper: the “security” software is not able to … – iPhoneAddict

You have not had to cut it: you’re browsing quietly on one of your favorite sites ( Son-Video, Yahoo, Youtube, Youpor hmm …) when suddenly a window popup arises in the middle of the screen telling you that your Mac is in danger and that the need to quickly develop a super powerful anti-virus software: MacKeeper . These aggressive communication techniques, added to the fact that MacKeeper seems to function primarily as a malware (the US, the publisher had to find an arrangement with disgruntled users to avoid a class action) have largely altered the image of Kromtech editor.

As if that were not enough, a Reddit managed to penetrate Kromtech servers with simple passwords algos tests, publisher machines being MD5 protected by an encryption system, basic and not at all suited to the type of data that was stored on servers. Finally, 13 million customer accounts could be thus recovered (!) , which detail bad for a company that boasts of security solutions with great fanfare alarmist messages … Kromtech has since indicated that it had undertaken to correct the larger faults, but at the very least, this e peak-fail clearly does not inspire confidence …
