Researchers have discovered a racket software, a “ransomware,” which has crept into the installation files for Transmission, a BitTorrent client (download tool in peer-to-peer) popular for OS X, the latest version of Apple’s operating system.

This type of program, relatively current, infects a computer in various ways, then takes control and locks access to its files or programs. A first attempt in 2014
The software for users Mac and Transmission, named KeRanger was surreptitiously slipped on the official website of BitTorrent client, and an update is already available to erase all traces of the virus.
