As part of the plan of action against cancer and to comply with standards in the world, the Department of Population Health and Hospital Reform decided to adopt a single program of the National Cancer Registry. This software will be extended to all provinces of the country

Algeria count before the end of the year a single cancer registry national for the collection, storage and interpretation of data on cancer patients. The Advisor to the Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Badra Benkedadra announced Sunday in Oran, at a regional meeting on the cancer registry, organized at the higher institute of paramedical training, which all wilaya will use before the end of 2014 one software of the National Cancer Registry

Established in Setif, this software will develop a file based on a database of different types of cancer, evolution and the number of cases affected, says Benkedadra. In a statement to APS, the advisor to the Ministry of Health stressed that the adoption of this statement on the spread of the cancer registry at national level will provide better data collection and an end to several problems faced players in this sector. Recall in this connection that the cancer registry is a medico-administrative structure with a mission to identify all cancer cases occurring in a defined territory and ensure the use for statistical and epidemiological purposes of the file and made .

The spread of cancer registry that is part of the plan against cancer, under ministerial statement on the February 2014 management and organization of the cancer registry, has been praised by several experts who participated in this meeting. Affirming that the generalization of the cancer registry at national level in accordance with the standards in the world will overcome several constraints, Professor Zoubir Fouatih, epidemiologist at the University Hospital Oran recalled that Oran was a pioneer in this field setting up a registry for 20 years

. Several issues were discussed during the meeting, mainly the difficulty of access to data on cancer cases and lack of coordination among stakeholders in management of patients. Moreover, the experts present at the meeting focused on the important aspect of the training on the organization and management of cancer registry
