The Hacking Team Spyware exploited a flaw in Flash – MacGeneration

One of countless Flash vulnerabilities has been quietly exploited by Hacking Team to steal confidential information of computer users character. Adobe warned of the flaw yesterday, before fill some hours later: it is obviously highly recommended to install this umpteenth patch, available for OS X, Windows and Linux

Hacking Team, the Italian company is currently at the heart of a scandal of great magnitude. The company sells computer monitoring solutions to the highest bidder, allowing a government or security agency to steal private data on individual computers or smartphones (read: Hacking Team: espionage iOS and OS X guaranteed invoice).

To get into the devices of his victims, software sold at full price by Hacking Team exploit vulnerabilities. It is therefore no surprise that these intrusion experts have used one of the flaws of the Flash player without notifying Adobe of the presence of said fault. It took 400 GB of data from servers Hacking Team are spilled on P2P networks that we know the existence of this vulnerability, bite quickly (it’s lucky) by the Flash editor.

In the meantime, Symantec says hackers groups could attempt to use this vulnerability before the patch Adobe’s online, in order to encrypt user data without their knowledge and ransom to provide the decryption key. Suffice to say that if you still use Flash, it is more than necessary to apply the update. Or completely get rid of this software …
