Apple introduced recently previewed watchOS 2, the first major software update for Apple Watch, which provides developers with tools to create apps faster and more efficient, run natively on Apple Watch. Thus, developers can leverage the innovative hardware features of the Apple Watch, including the Digital Crown Taptic the engine and the heart rate monitor, not to mention software API to create new experiences within their apps. Available this fall for users of Apple Watch, watchOS 2 also features new dials, complications based on data from third-party apps, and new communication features in Mail, Friends and Digital Touch.
The developers have already created thousands of apps for Apple Watch, and their WatchKit now offers access to major hardware such as Digital Crown, the Taptic Engine, the heart rate monitor, accelerometer and microphone . New software APIs allow playing audio and video content, while ClockKit structure will allow developers to submit their data as compilations on the dial.
These new tools enable developers to create apps more robust. For example, Strava uses data from the accelerometer and heart rate monitor to track your heart rate more accurately when the pedal or short user; Insteon operates the Digital Crown and offers customers more precise controls to mitigate the light or thermostat; a Volkswagen owners can obtain a haptic feedback when the door of their vehicle is locked; WeChat can send audio messages exploiting the microphone; Vine and can host and play video directly within the app.
WatchOS 2 transforms the favorite photo dial, or view pictures of the favorite album every time the user lifts the wrist, with new dials Photo and Photo Album. With the dial Lapse, make the choice from a selection of videos filmed in fast 24 hours in legendary venues like New York, London and Shanghai
The new feature Time Travel allows users to use the Digital Crown to travel through time by exploring the past and future events, including meetings, upcoming events, weather forecasts week and the third Apps data, such as information for the next flight.
The latest version of the Apple Watch software offers the most original ways to communicate. With Mail, the user can respond quickly using dictation, smart answers or emoji.
