Software to detect suspicious actions – Le Figaro

Faced with the threat of terrorism, the SNCF experiments with new technologies to detect suspicious behavior or luggage, including a behavioral analysis software that could be integrated with its 40,000 surveillance cameras. This software is based “on the change in body temperature, the shrug of voice or the staccato nature of gestures that can show some anxiety,” said the secretary general of SNCF, Stéphane Volant. His experiment is underway in several stations, and is carried out “in accordance with the law and under the supervision of the National Commission on Informatics and Liberties (CNIL),” he said.

Cameras that detect suspicious packages since stayed too long on the ground are also being tested. SNCF also questions the possibility of equipping its agents portable cameras to identify fraud or suspicious behavior, and spring, an application should be launched to allow travelers to launch the alert from their smartphones. Security gantries are also being installed in Lille (north) and Paris on Thalys international routes, including connecting France to Belgium and the Netherlands.
