(Boursier.com.) – Volkswagen delivers information the dropper for software that allowed to manipulate the information on emissions. After stating that 11 million diesel vehicles were involved in the world, the German manufacturer said that eight million cars are equipped within the European Union.
Several engines
Volkswagen issued this information in a letter to members of the Transport Committee of the Bundestag and deputies constituency hosting Volkswagen factories, to which Reuters had access. The affected vehicles are equipped with engines 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 liters of type EA 189 engine, said the automotive group.
No European Survey
In France, about 950,000 vehicles are affected by this. Late last week, the Paris prosecutor’s office decided to open a preliminary investigation for “aggravated deception”. Other countries have decided to do the same (Italy and Germany in particular). For its part, the European Commission intends to introduce stricter standards but has not launched proceedings against the German manufacturer. Several European deputies environmentalists and other political figures have decided to start a petition to Brussels a diligent investigation as quickly as possible, “on all vehicles on the European market.”
