The software “cheaters” are decidedly fashionable. In the car … but also in VAT fraud. The 2016 state budget, presented on Wednesday, provides a specific provision in the fight against a phenomenon of evasion of a very particular kind. According Bercy, some traders install a small software on their cash registers. It helps to remove some of their recipes … and suddenly not pay VAT.

An anti-fraud software. At the Ministry of Finance, is not given figures. But we advance Measurement: the government decided to require traders to be equipped with an anti-fraud POS software by 1 January 2018. If this obligation is not met on time, the commercial risk a tax fine of 5,000 euros. It then has 60 days to come into compliance. Today, between 100,000 and 150,000 merchants (three million) have already taken the lead. Which is also not without cost to them. The software costs about 100-150 euros per case

A plan to help identify cheaters More broadly,. the government will better target companies dodging tax. How? With powerful software (another) computer that can target risk files. These statistical models that analyze computers and detect the most likely to cheat profiles. The tax authorities can then trigger a control procedure. The test was conducted on several thousand companies and will be generalized.
